Well I ertainly won't buy this book from blurb, the quality especially in black and white is REALLY bd, it did not do my black and white work any justice, nor the other hotograher's work I bought at blurb. Seeing yours is not colour there is few chance it will be ok. Maybe you don't care about those things but I personally am very picky when I spend money on other's work or when I get my work to print. ANd blurb is only for personal diaries, not for publications in my eyes.
ll the monochrome images are magenta-yellow colour contrasts, and the colour ones are so full of false contrast, not to mention they are way off.
It is a great opportunity to get your work out there, but in my eyes nothing for someone who wants to establish themselves and show quality work. Your work deserves better, even if it is fashion.
maybe next time try the color profile, but I don't think you would lay your hand on Blurb anymore.
It is a personal project, and I'm sharing it with the rest of the world. I'm happy about the print result, of course I don't compare it to photo paper results, but for the price, I am more than satisfied.
Well, I use blurb for personal "storage" so to say, and quick portfolio flipping with clients, but not to sell it, I am waiting for better services.
So your book is beautifully balanced greyscale?! why did you have to make the video and the preview pics grey scale then? pure aesthetics?
I use colour-profiles actually...... in case you care.
just as a side point.
The yellow images I had were surprisingly well done and close to my originals, but the rest....probably that was a lucky strike.
No idea about the guy I bought the (beautifully equipped) book from, if he also works with pre-organized/set colour profile; the images are all black and white, and they are not a decent tendency towards magenta, but they are real magenta, its amazing.I laughed. And cried having to let my book go.
As jmonzani sent me a note about this he said he skipped it as well even before testing simply because they highly compress the images during upload.
And they use many different printers all equipped differently and admit results may vary. No idea how the Netherland one will be an add to the pool of variety haha
I agree though, the price probably doesn't allow anything better, I agree. And the service itself is good.
If it serves your purposes, great! But your work is very good, if I were you, I'd check for some publishers, yo might have good chances
Good luck with that then!
if you care to share colour foto details of your book privately via email I'd appreciate that, to see if I was erely unlucky with all my orders. lia at scattered-sea.com
no problem if it is too much of a hassle
thanks a lot for the conversation
